Montreal, March 18, 2015 — The new Non-Status Action Committee was created in order to accompany and support the demands of non-status people who are facing removal since the lifting of the moratoria on deportations to Haiti and Zimbabwe this past December 1, 2014.
As part of a series of activities to take place in the coming days and weeks, one of the most important is a press conference being organized for thisMarch 19, to which the media is invited, so that the general public can get informed about the situation of 3500 Haitians and Zimbabweans who are struggling for the right to stay in Canada.
We are inviting elected federal, provincial and municipal officials from Montreal to attend this event and we are counting on their presence, or their representatives, as well as people who are directly concerned by the lifting of the moratoria, and may face removal.
